Moments in Focus: Live in the Moment

The present moment.  Right now.  Hmm...what is happening?  What do you see?  What do you hear?  What do you feel?  And breathe...  This was the basis of my pain strategy when I was in labour.  I used it most though with my first born and my third born.  My second one, I used other strategies.  I think I will have to do a post on my labours and how I used focusing on the present moment to help me through my labours but that is for another time.  I truly believe in the power of using the present moment.  In my early years as a mother I lost sight of that power to focus on even the littlest of moments and when I got to the point of feeling completely overwhelmed with it all I started seeing a mindfulness coach.  The first thing she had me do was focus on my body and that very present moment of what was going on inside of it.  I had no idea I was so out of myself.  So back to the present we go...

Here are my current moments in focus with a few extras on the end.

DAY 6:  Mornings

A very calming part of my day is to sit in my favourite rocking chair drinking my coffee and writing in my gratitude journal.  Or any other of my many journals.

DAY 7:  Selfie

It is true.  There is not a lot of photos of me with the kids as I'm usually the one taking the photos but on this gorgeous fall day I gave my son the camera and let him snap away.  Mama was enjoying playing in the leaves with my girl.

DAY 8:  Noticing

Big bright ball of sun
Children shrill and shout sliding
Warm wonderful fall

DAY 9:  Helping

There is nothing better than children helping in the kitchen to promote bonding, independence, cooperation, and memories.  Miss Ballerina is helping me make the icing for her birthday cake.

DAY 10:  Seasonal

I love slowing down and just letting my children be in their environment. We took this time to really enjoy the warm fall day, the leaves and playing.  Here are a few more shots.

Here is hoping you also enjoy the moments big and small, one and all.  Follow me on Instagram to see more moments in focus as my family and I embrace slow living and enjoying all of our moments.   You can also find me on Pinterest.
